This page sets out practical habits that keep gambling contained, and explains what this site can and cannot do for someone who wants to cut back or stop. Gambling here is for adults only: the eighteen-and-over restriction appears throughout this site, including on the front page.
Habits
- Decide the amount before starting. A figure chosen calmly beforehand is more reliable than one chosen mid-session, when wins and losses distort judgement.
- Treat that amount as already spent. If you expect nothing back, a loss costs only what you planned to pay for the entertainment, and nothing needs to be won back.
- Never chase a loss. Raising stakes to recover money tends to deepen the hole, because each new bet carries the same odds as the last.
- Keep borrowed money out of it. Credit and loans turn a gambling loss into a debt that keeps costing after the session ends.
- Take breaks. Stepping away interrupts the momentum of continuous play and gives you a moment to check time and money against your plan.
- Involve someone else early. When gambling stops feeling like entertainment, telling a person you trust makes the problem harder to hide, including from yourself.
Help
Every page of this site, this one included, carries links to five independent gambling-help organisations: BeGambleAware, Gamble Aware, Gambling Therapy, G GamCare Gambling Support: Starts Here, and NCPG. They are the only non-commercial outbound links on the site. Unlike the operator links, they carry no sponsored marking, are set to nofollow, and open in a separate tab on each organisation's own website. This site receives nothing when you follow them.
This site has no account, no form and no server-side application, so nothing published here can switch on, check or enforce a deposit cap, loss cap, reality check, cooling-off period or self-exclusion. Those are arranged by you inside your own account at the destination. Nobody's age is verified on this site and no gambling takes place on it. Any such check happens at the destination. No advertising or behavioural profiling network runs in these pages, so nothing here is targeted at a reader who has shown risky behaviour.
